“Who Is My Neighbor?”
10:15 a.m. weekly in the Chapel

Christ calls us to love all of our neighbors, but daily reality paints another picture. We have lessons to learn in welcoming, loving, and seeking justice for all of our neighbors. Each week of this series will challenge participants to expand our understandings of “neighbor” and the ways we might care for one another. The series will include focus on: immigration and the sanctuary movement, Hope’s Home ministries, gerrymandering, “outcasts” welcomed by Jesus, race relations, interfaith connections, children and teens experiencing homelessness and poverty, people who identify as LGBTQ+, law enforcement, and people living with mental health concerns.

Sunday, August 20 (Reconciling Sunday)
Transgender Neighbors
How is sexual orientation different from gender identity? How do I treat a transgender person with respect? What name and pronoun do I use? How can I be a good ally for transgender people? As we continue to think about what it means to love our neighbors, it will be helpful to know more about our transgender members and neighbors. The Transgender Health Advocate from OutReach will lead the presentation.

Sunday, August 27
Hope's Home and Community Volunteers Care for Homeless Neighbors' Feet
When Jesus washed the disciples' feet, He told them, "I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you" (John 13:15). As His followers, we are to emulate Him, serving one another in lowliness of heart and mind, seeking to build one another up in humility and love. Learn more about how Hope's Home Ministries, grounded in Jesus's teachings, as well as community volunteers, care for our homeless neighbors' feet.
