Leaping Forward

Now We Begin

There is great hope for the future of our church. I have had conversations with a wide variety of our members and friends through the ‘Meet & Greets’ and other gatherings. There is great hope with many great ideas and visions. As we move through our stewardship time, I want to share in greater detail what is behind our “Leaping Forward" appeal and the strategic vision and budget that will emerge as a result of our financial commitments. I hope you find these helpful and inspiring for our future ministry together. I will write three blogs per week through Commitment Sunday...and perhaps beyond.

Transparency | Wednesday's Wondering

This week marks the final "meet & greet" gathering of members and friends of the church. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the hosts who opened their homes or welcomed small groups at the church. The Staff-Parish Relations Committee was instrumental in supporting this opportunity to hear and experience what is important to our church members and what your future hopes might be.

I hope to share a report about what I heard and my vision and proposals for strategic steps. In fact, your ideas have been topics for these blogposts during our Leaping Forward Fund Appeal.

One request has emerged that directly affects the stewardship of the gifts we all contribute to the church: transparency. It is a sound principle of good church governance and was noted in several places at the December, 2015 Church Conference as an important goal for the Governing Board. This is an important matter to engage, and I am committed to finding effective ways to provide communication that is open and transparent.

As we have looked at Leaping Forward, we will proceed with the greatest confidence and trust in our way of "doing the business of the church." The Governing Board has named this as a priority and members of the congregation have asked for this as an important aspect of our life together. Now, let's make good intentions into realities!

Mark
