Music

Singers, keyboard players and instrumentalists of all levels are welcome.

Our Music Program at First Church is a glorious addition to our worship services. Through our vocal and instrumental choirs, we seek to enhance the worship experience through an artistic and loving expression of faithfulness.

We currently have two vocal choirs, a handbell choir and a brass choir. Singers, keyboard players and instrumentalists of all levels are welcome. Contact our Director of Music (Ross Cowing) for more information or call 608-333-2282.

The Blessed Brass

The Blessed Brass usually plays once a month at the 9 a.m. worship hour, September through May. It is made up of many area musicians. It rehearses the Monday evening before their scheduled Sunday, and again on the Sunday morning before worship. Experience on a brass instrument is needed.

Chamber Choir

The Chamber Choir usually sings once a month at the 9 a.m. worship hours, September through May. It is comprised of experienced singers who meet on Sunday morning, sight-read the music, and then shape it for worship all in 15 minutes. Membership in this group needs to be discussed with the Director of Music.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is an enthusiastic volunteer choir with singers of all ages and abilities who regularly sing in worship. Anyone with an interest in singing sacred music is welcome. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Room. It does not meet during the summer months.

Handbell Choir

The Handbell Choir usually plays once a month at the 9 a.m. worship service, September through May. The ability to read music is required. The choir rehearses Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. (People able to substitute on a call-basis are always welcome, as well.) The Handbell Choir does not meet or perform during the summer months.

If you have particular gifts for vocal or instrumental music and are willing to share them on a Sunday morning, we often incorporate soloists and ensembles throughout the year. Please let our Director of Music know your instrument and willingness to share during worship.
